A night out in Bollywood's heartland turned terrifying - gunmen opened fire on action star Tiger Shroff as he left an event in Juhu.

In a shocking incident straight out of a movie script, Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff was shot at in Mumbai on Sunday evening, as first reported by cbinews.tv.

According to police official Mohit Garg, shooters targeted the 36-year-old as he was leaving a private event in the upscale Juhu area - right in the heart of Bollywood itself.

The good news? Tiger is safe. He didn't actually take a bullet.

The human cost, though - his driver and one other person were injured in the firing. Mumbai Police have now deployed multiple teams and say the actor is under protection.

Three suspects have already been rounded up in Rajasthan. Police official Tejaswani Gautam told reporters two of them have previous cases - one for theft, another under the Arms Act. Motive? Still unclear.

This isn't just about one star. Mumbai is India's financial capital, but it's also the home of Bollywood, a £2.3bn Hindi film industry. And it has a dark history.

In the 90s, Bollywood stars were routinely threatened by the underworld for extortion money - think of the Gulshan Kumar murder in 1997 and the attack on Rakesh Roshan. Things had calmed down, but in recent years, threats have resurfaced - Salman Khan's security was massively beefed up after shots were fired outside his Bandra home in 2024.

Tiger Shroff - son of veteran Jackie Shroff and known for high-octane franchises like Baaghi and War - has largely stayed away from controversy, which makes this attack even more puzzling.

Police are now connecting the dots between Mumbai and Rajasthan. Expect:

Interrogation of the three suspects to establish if this was extortion, personal rivalry, or a contract job.

More CCTV trawling from Juhu and a security review for A-list actors.

A formal statement from Shroff's team, who have stayed silent so far.

For now, Mumbai Police say the investigation is in full swing.
