No more wandering around looking for your polling unit, just scan and go. INEC has just made PVC collection in Lagos as easy as ordering takeaway.
Fancy collecting your PVC without the usual struggle? INEC has got you.
As cbinews.tv reports, voters in Lagos can now scan a QR code, available on INEC’s website and social handles, to instantly find their designated Permanent Voter Card collection centre.
Speaking at a press conference at INEC’s Lagos headquarters on Tuesday, Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Ayobami Salami, said the Commission is in top gear for 2027. Think: testing BVAS devices, fixing result transmission glitches, and training personnel.
Let’s be honest, PVC collection has always been the bottleneck. In 2023, Lagos alone had over 7 million registered voters, but hundreds of thousands of cards were left uncollected. People simply couldn’t find where to collect them. This QR code move is INEC trying to close that frustrating gap between registration and actual voting.
INEC has had to rewrite its own calendar. Why? The Electoral Act, 2022 has been repealed and replaced with the Electoral Act, 2026, which changes all the legal timelines.
Initially, INEC fixed Presidential and National Assembly polls for 20th February 2027, and Governorship for 6th March 2027.
Now, under the revised timetable, as cbinews.tv confirms:
Presidential / National Assembly: Saturday, 16th January 2027
Governorship / State Assembly: Saturday, 6th February 2027
That’s a full month earlier. Historically, Nigeria has always shifted poll dates when a new Electoral Act comes in, we saw it in 2019 and 2022. The Commission says this ensures full legal compliance.

Go collect your PVC and verify your details NOW – don’t wait for January rush.
As Professor Salami warned: rely only on official INEC channels, not WhatsApp rumours.
